Project linking arts, architecture and communities up for award

MADE has been shortlisted for a Homes and Communities Academy Award 2009. Our project Creative Communities is one of five finalists in the category Investing in Young People. Funded through the Arts Council, Creative Communities matched artists and architects with residents and young people in three regeneration areas: Sandwell, North Solihull and Tamworth. Winners will be announced in June.

Building for Life will ensure that local authority assessments of the quality of housing schemes will be consistent across the region and the country. That was the message when officers from 27 local planning authorities (out of 30 in the region) turned up to be trained as in-house building for life assessors. More

MADE has appointed a new officer to champion artistic and cultural activity in new school buildings. Building Schools for the Future is a major capital programme which promises to transform secondary education. The awards, run by the Southern Staffordshire Partnership, seek to promote excellence in design and construction of buildings and spaces in the area, with imaginative use of public art and an increasing incorporation of sustainability.
